How do you do www2.yourdomain.com and what are the advantages?

I was wondering about how to do www2.yourdomain.com cause I've seen several sites in the past days used it. I was wondering how this was done just for knowladge for down the rode in case I wanted to do that. Is their really any advantage to it?

It's just a subomain. There's no real "benefit" to ANY subdomain... other than it is easier to remember.

Most companies that use that sort of thing www, www2, www3 usually have multiple servers serving the same or similar content. The numbers help the company distinguish where pages are coming from.
